Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at 8:00pm
The Barbican Hall
Barbican artist-in-residence Davóne Tines performs a multidisciplinary all-Julius Eastman program curated by Seth Parker Woods, alongside AMOC* & Kyle Marshall Dance Company.
This boundary-breaking concert will celebrate Eastman’s art within the greater context of his life, creativity, and humanity. Seth Parker Woods and Davóne Tines are joined by soloists Conor Hanick, Richard Valitutto, and Adam Tendler (pianos) and JIJI (guitar) for a programme that includes Prelude and The Holy Presence of Joan D’Arc, Touch Him When, Piano 2, and Gay Guerilla.
Indelibly associated with contemporary music, ‘Davóne Tines is changing what it means to be a classical singer’ (The New Yorker). He was awarded a Grammy nomination for his recording of the title role in Anthony Davis’ X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X and created the role of Ned Peters in John Adams’ most recent opera Girls of the Golden West.
