SUMMARY:EL NIÑO: NATIVITY RECONSIDERED
DESCRIPTION:This chamber music arrangement—specially written for AMOC*—was first performed at The Met Cloisters in 2018 in the beautiful San Martín at Fuentidueña chapel. The New York Times called it “intimate\, affecting and quietly rich with activism.” The piece\, which celebrates Latin American poets and the voices of women\, returns for a one-night-only engagement this holiday season at a different New York City landmark. \nA rarely performed work\, El Niño “ruminates on the notion that with the promise of new life\, there is the equal threat of inexplicable violence and sacrifice\,” said Bullock\, “one of opera’s fastest-rising stars” (Vanity Fair)\, who curated the selections being performed. \nThe concert will take place at The Cathedral of St. John the Divine at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $5-45 (choose-what-you-pay). \nWe are excited to announce our new choose-what-you-pay model\, and if you would like to support this initiative\, AMOC* is also offering reception tickets for $150+. Please contact us for more details. \nEL NIÑO: NATIVITY RECONSIDERED \nMusic by John Adams\nLibretto compilation by Peter Sellars\nMusical selections by Julia Bullock\nMusical arrangement by Christian Reif \nJulia Bullock\, soprano\nRachael Wilson\, mezzo-soprano\nDavóne Tines\, baritone\nAnthony Roth Costanzo\, countertenor\nEmi Ferguson\, flute\nHassan Anderson\, oboe\nGleb Kanasevich\, clarinet\nAlex Davis\, bassoon\nPriscilla Rinehart\, horn\nConor Hanick\, piano\nJohn Arida\, keyboard\nJonny Allen\, percussion\nJordan Dodson\, Guitar\nKeir GoGwilt\, Miranda Cuckson\, Julia Choi\, Curtis Stewart\, Miran Kim\, Ravenna Lipchik\, Qianwen Shen\, Lady Jess\, violin\nZoë Martin-Doike\, Carrie Frey\, Tia Allen\, Celia Hatton\, viola\nColeman Itzkoff\, Andrew Janss\, Titilayo Ayangade\, cello\nDoug Balliett\, Christopher Johnson\, bass \nThe Choir of Trinity of Wall Street\nShabnam Abedi\, Meg Dudley\, Madeline Apple Healey\, sopranos\nKirsten Sollek\, Pamela Terry\, altos\nDavid Vanderwal\, Tommy Wazelle\, Steven Caldicott Wilson\, tenors\nJeffrey Gavett\, Steven Hrycelak\, basses \nChristian Reif\, conductor \nJohn Torres\, lighting design\nMark Grey\, sound design\nCath Brittan\, producer\nStefano Flavoni\, assistant conductor\nThomas McCargar\, chorus manager\nBetsy Ayer\, stage manager\nKirk Baltzell\, assistant stage manager\nAndrew Lulling\, sound engineer
