DESCRIPTION:This fall\, AMOC presents a brand new project celebrating the work of iconoclastic composer Julius Eastman—premiering at NYC FREE\, Little Island NYC’s first major festival. \nA multi-dimensional performance piece\, featuring company members Doug Balliett\, Miranda Cuckson\, Emi Ferguson\, Conor Hanick\, Davóne Tines\, and guest artist Seth Parker Woods\, EASTMAN reflects the performers’ consideration of Julius Eastman’s art and the larger context of his life\, creativity\, and humanity. The project will contend with Eastman’s life and work by interweaving personal narrative\, interviews\, conversation\, and performance of instrumental and vocal music by Eastman\, highlighting music that he famously performed and exploring his musical context.
